Maybe I’m missing something, but wouldn’t it be easier just to stop feeding them cow’s brains?

    My understanding is that this is an easily occurring mutation. Not feeding ground-up animals to other animals is unquestionably a good idea, but it wouldn’t keep this disease from spontaneously reappearing.
